About this provider
The Tower Hamlets Youth Sport Foundation (previously School Sport Partnership) coordinates the development of all youth sport in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
We support schools to deliver more and better PE through:
- Staff training and support
- Subsidising swimming and cycling proficiency programmes-
- Providing a full and varied extra-curricular sport programme (two sessions per week)-
- Employing sport specific officers and engaging selected external providers to deliver in/with schools-
- Liaising with governing bodies of sport and other partners to roll out other initiatives-
- Support intra school (Level 1) competition and school sports days-
- Provide borough intra school (Level 2) competitions and provide access to regional (Level 3) competitions through the School Games initiative-
- Supporting schools with international sporting links and Olympic-related projects-
- Developing cross curricular projects and sports-
- Themed whole school improvement schemes-
- Enabling access to PETAs (PE Teaching Assistants) and other qualified/trained local young people who may enhance a school’s sporting offer-
- Working with schools to develop parental engagement through sport-
- Managing a school, club and participant surveying process to help standardise the youth sport offer any other consultancy work relating to PE and sport.
The foundation is also determined to place borough schools firmly at the heart of sports development in Tower Hamlets and so schools’ support also enables their students to access:- a wide range of holiday programmes, club link initiatives and higher quality club sport talent identification and support programmes (including bursary schemes), district sport, the London Youth Games community sports activity including the Stepping Stones programme, sports leadership programmes and qualifications, disability sports initiatives, a range of health programmes, a range of social inclusion programmes
