Description

Do you have mental health problems? Are you struggling to have your voice heard or get the support you need?

Our advocacy service could help you resolve issues around your care and support, your housing or finances, your treatment or any other issue that is worrying you and affecting your independence and quality of life.

Advocacy is taking action — to help you express your views and wishes, secure your rights, have your interests represented, access information and services and explore choices and options.

Advocacy is a partnership — we will match you with an advocate — a trained person who will work with you to help you achieve the outcomes you want. Wherever possible we will support you to speak for yourself, but if you do not feel able to then our advocate will speak on your behalf.

Advocacy is provided by — Age UK Sheffield staff, specially recruited volunteers and Social Work students on placement at Age UK Sheffield. Your advocate will have been specially trained and CRB-checked and will receive regular supervision to ensure they are providing you with the best possible service.

Advocacy is independent — this service is funded by NHS Sheffield but your advocate represents you and your wishes, no-one else.

This is a free service. For further information please submit an information request outlining your requirements and we will contact you.
