Supporting Culture/Faiths

At Personalized Care Serviceswe understand the diversity of our society and the people we support, we have a diverse team of staff who are trained to support people in a respectful culturally sensitive way. Your individual needs are important to us and these will be identified on our initial assessment ensuring we can support all aspects of your wellbeing. We know that despite advanced age or a disability people wish to continue attending places of worship,

We will always support to enable you to observe your faith practice e.g. a Muslim person may want to pray five times per day; a Christian person may want to go to the church to pray or attend a service. A Buddhist person may want to meditate or chant in a quiet room. A person of no practising faith may find quiet contemplation in other forms of spiritual practice. We know religious festivals may require specific observances, or people may need to ritualise or mark an important event, a change, a loss, an anniversary, and this can be the same for people who do not practice a religion.

We also understand spiritual or religious practice may become more important to people when they are at end of their life, which sometimes can include organising things they have set out to do in accordance to their religious or spiritual beliefs. We understand how important it is to people for staff to be aware of their religious or spiritual beliefs, rituals that they wish to participate in at the end of their life and at times even after they have gone.

We will always provide people with culturally appropriate and respectful support, with our primary focus being to maintain and affirm a person’s cultural, religious identity.
