Description
Do you have a learning disability and would you like to go for a walk?
We have spaces for people to join our Muddy Boots walking groups in North and South Kirklees. We meet up on Sunday at 11 o’clock, go for a walk, have a packed lunch and then visit a café or pub for a drink. We finish back where we started at 3 o’clock. If you would like to find out more then please ring me, Matthew, on 01484 340811 or submit an information request outlining your requirements and we will respond.
We need to meet people before they can start on the walks so please ring me first.
One group is based in Huddersfield and they meet at Waverley Hall which is opposite the driving test centre on Waverley Road, HD1 5NA. We don’t provide transport to and from Waverley so people will need to sort out getting there on their own or with family or carers.
In Huddersfield we have a walkers group and a strollers group. At the moment each person gets to go every other week. When we have more people interested we might need to drop down to each person going just once a month.
We have a second group now running that meets at Dewsbury Bus Station on alternate Thursdays and Sundays. The Thursday group meets at 10am and the Sunday group meets at 11am.
We have funding for a year from the Council so the walks and support only cost £2. People need to bring sensible clothes, a packed lunch and some money for a drink.
We have staff ready to start a second group based in Batley. As soon as we have enough people interested we will be meeting at Branches building in the Carlinghow Mills complex at 499 Bradford Road.
