The mission of the Apna Haq is to eliminate domestic violence and strengthen Black Minority & Ethnic families and communities living in Rotherham. As women and children are the main victims of domestic violence, the key work of the project focuses on improving their quality of life.

What does Apna Haq offer?
Apna Haq offers a friendly, non-judgmental, informal atmosphere where individuals can explore the issues facing them and look at ways of overcoming these, offering access to free, impartial, confidential, one to one support, advocacy, signposting, information, advice and guidance, and long-term support to help women heal from the trauma of abuse and make the transition from crisis situations to safe, independent, violence-free lives.
Apna Haq has specific specialist knowledge and experience of issues such as forced marriage, and honour based violence.

Who it is for?
Black Minority Ethnic women e.g. African, Chinese, Indian, Pakistani, Roma, Thai etc., in Rotherham affected by domestic violence or any other crisis situation such as Forced Marriage.

Apna haq helps women from any background that discriminates against them as being from a non-white community/culture. This also includes white women who have been married into Black Minority Ethnic (BME) communities.

• Developing self worth

& Empowering individuals to access local support groups, training sessions, events
• Access to relevant agencies/networks through sign posting

What Languages are spoken?
Community languages are spoken. Urdu, Pushto, English, access to other languages via interpreters.

How do I apply?
Referral for support from Apna Haq can be made either by yourself directly or by family/ friends or any agency that may be supporting you.
